Carin's Current Update

Myelogenous Leukemia. Cancer. It sounds scary doesn't it? It scared Carin and me when on October 16th of 2003, she was diagnosed with Chronic Myelogenous Leukemia.

Carin had already defeated cancer once before. She lost her right leg above the knee due to osteogenic sarcoma. As if this wasn't enough, she was also nearly killed by an undetected grapefruit sized tumor that caused severe internal bleeding.

We have since learned to overcome our fears, or at least a portion of them, through education and understanding of this disease. We learned about things like Gleevec, a newly developed drug. We learned more about chemotherapy and radiation therapy. Our knowledge increased and gradually our fears decreased. It is our hope that we can help you do the same.
